The Condition of Man

We believe that all people have fallen short of the glory of God; we've all sinned (Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10). The bible tells us that our sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:2) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). This means that without a savior, we will all die eternally separated from God.

Who is Jesus Christ?

Man was not meant to be separated from God, so He sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, to earth (John 3:16). Jesus, being both fully man (Philippians 2:8) and fully God (Colossians 2:9), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), fulfilled prophesies about the coming Messiah (Matthew 1:22), and preached a message of repentance (Matthew 4:17). Because Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, he was crucified (Matthew 26:63-66). In death, a sinless Christ paid the price for our sinful lives (1 Peter 1:18-19). Jesus resurrected on the third day (Matthew 28:1-10), defeating sin and death. Having taken our place in death, He offers us eternal life and relation with God (John 17:3). In order to receive Him, we must repent of our sins (Mark 1:15) and confess our belief (Romans 3:22) in Him as our Lord.

How does our worldview impact our marriage?

Having individually submitted our lives to Christ, we also jointly submit our marriage to Christ. We believe that our union is not only a celebration of our love and commitment to each other, but also a reflection of our greater union to come, unification with Christ.

Knowing that our marriage is simply an earthly reflection of our marriage to Christ, we intend to model this relationship in our marriage. We know that a husband should seek to sacrificially love and lead his wife as Christ does the church and a wife should submit to and respect her husband as the church does to Christ.

We also understand that the marriage we have entered into is not just a contract under law, but a holy covenant under God. We believe that unlike marriage contracts, marriage covenants cannot be broken.
